Trends in International Geography Assessment Study (TIGAS)

(2016 – ongoing)

The project aims at developing an international geography assessment that meets the standards of the TIMSS 8th grade assessment mode, introducing geography as an international assessment in 2023.

The  international study group is headed Prof. Dr. Michael Solem (AAG & Texas State University, USA) and Prof. Dr. Joseph Stoltman (Western Michigan University, USA). Other members are Dr. Theresa Bourke (QUT, Australia), Prof. Dr. Chew Hung Chang (NIE, NTU, Singapore), Dr. Eugenio Gonzalez (IEA & ETS), Dr. Dirk Hastedt (IEA), Dr. Jon Moore (ETS, USA), Dr. Rod Lane (Macquarie University, Australia), Prof. Dr. Miroslav Marada (Charles University, Czechia), Erik Bijsterbosch (Windesheim University of Applied Sciences, the Netherlands),  Dr. Kathrin Viehrig (PH-FHNW, Switzerland) and Prof. Dr. Okkyong Yoon (Cheongju National University of Education, South Korea).

The SNSF funded an international exploratory workshop from September 10-12, 2017 in Switzerland.
