Choices in teacher education

(2015 – ongoing)

How to make good choices in teacher education (e.g. with regard to spatial examples) in order to improve learning?

That’s something I want to find out with the help of an educational design research study accompanying my teaching. Besides improving the local courses, the project aims at contributing to the empirical base for the theory (design principles) of teacher education.

In a first step, I focus on how pre-service teachers choose spatial examples and what criteria they want to guide the decision for spatial examples for their courses, using an online survey (read about e.g. here).

In a second step, as part of their coursework teacher students investigated the spatial example choices of teachers with the help of a questionnaire and prepared an article (in German) about it (read it here).
